Women in Medicine (WIM) will present four $5,000 academic scholarships for LGBTQ female medical students enrolled in allopathic and osteopathic medical schools in the U.S. or Canada. Applications are due by Feb. 1. Scholarships will be presented at the WIM annual meeting in Portland, OR, May 27-31 and students must be present to receive award. The National Elections Committee encourages all members to reflect on their leadership skills and serve SNMA in a leadership capacity. Click here for an applications and information packet. Deadline is Feb. 15, 2015.

The SNMA International Afairs Committee is encouraging memebers to participate in the upcoming 8-day winter trip to the Dominican Republic and experience health care as it is practiced in a different setting and context. Contact Zachary Enumah at international@snma.org.

Register free for the Science of Team Science (SCiTS) June 2-5, 2015 conference that will bring together thought leaders in the SciTS field, researchers engaged in team-based science, and instutional leaders, policy makers and federal agence reps who support collaborative research. The Diversity Council of JHU Department of Medicine has Visiting Clerkships available for medical students from underrepresented groups to expose students to careers at an academic medical center. The clerkship includes a faculty mentor, exposure to research programs, service learning opportunities through community outreach programs and assistance in preparing for resident interviews.
