ABOUT THE 2019 AMEC

The Student National Medical Association is excited to celebrate its 55th anniversary at our Annual Medical Education Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Our conference theme this year is The Call for Excellence: Improving the Future of Medicine through Leadership, Service, and Activism. As we celebrate 55 years of Diversifying the Face of Medicine, this conference will consist of interactive workshops and sessions that will not only prepare premed and medical students in their journey to become socially competent and clinically excellent physicians, but will also provide the opportunity to network with students and physicians from all over the country.  We will have dynamic speakers and panels that will provide insight and will inspire you to Lead, Serve, and become Active in the communities that need excellent health care providers and advocates.  This is a conference you must not miss!

AMEC Attendee registration is linked to your current SNMA membership status and level, with National dues-paying members receiving a discount.  Each registration--members and non-members--includes one ticket to the PRESIDENT'S LUNCHEON (for medical students, Life, Alums, and Physician Patrons) and the BOD BANQUET.  Premedical or other undergrad. students receive a ticket to the PREMEDICAL FORUM LUNCHEON,  instead of the President's Luncheon.  Non-members receive the same compliments, depending on their registration status.  Additional tickets can be purchased, if needed, for guests to attend these events only; full AMEC participation requires another registration.

Deadlines:  The Early Bird period for Attendee registration ends November 30, 2018 and is followed by a Regular registration period, extending to March 31, 2019, the last day to register on-line.  Registrations after March 31st must register on-site, paying the On-site fee. Click here  to see "Terms and Conditions of Attendee Registration."  Please note, you cannot register for an exhibit through this portal.  Exhibit registration is posted separately on the website.

Hotel Room Rates:  Room rates at the Marriott hotel are:   $129 single/double; $20 for each additional person.  Hotel room rates are subject to applicable state and local taxes currently in effect at the time of check-in.  Currently, they are 15.5%

Making Reservations by Phone (some schools may want to do this):  To make reservations by phone, call 
(888) 236-2427.  The hotel's cut-off date for confirming guest rooms at the SNMA group rate is 12:01 AM, Saturday, March 30, 2019 (so, make reservations by that Friday night!).

 

Reserve rooms as early as possible (that is, get your reservation in the hotel's system), even if your travel plans are uncertain.  If you need to, you can always call and cancel or update a reservation later. However, the SNMA room block for the SNMA meeting frequently sells-out well before the established deadline and, once rooms in the SNMA block are gone, SNMA will have little control over the availability and pricing of additional rooms.  (If we need to secure an overflow hotel, the information will be circulated via member e-mail).  You are also advised that the hotel is entitled to charge its standard room rates to anyone whose registration for the conference cannot be confirmed by the SNMA Headquarters!  It is important, therefore, that all persons on the hotel’s reservations lists are also registered to attend the conference.
