About NLI
The National Leadership Institute (NLI) is held three times per year in conjunction with the Board of Directors Meetings. SNMA and MAPS members from all parts of the country gather for a weekend of educational workshops on leadership training, organizational advancement and project development. During each session, educational tracks are crafted specifically for board members, regional and chapter members at large, and for premedical students.
The January 2025 National Leadership Institute is hosted by the University of Tennessee Memphis School of Public Health located in SNMA Region X, The Legacy. We are so excited to visit this region known for its soulful heart of the South, blending rolling hills, vibrant music, and rich traditions of the community. Our theme for NLI is "Igniting Passion and Perseverance: Cultivating Leaders for Tomorrow." This theme focuses on empowering individuals to create impactful change, rooted in the values of SNMA, it also highlights the importance of developing resilient, compassionate, and visionary leaders who are committed to addressing health disparities, promoting diversity, and uplifting marginalized voices. Through our emphasis on leadership, mentorship, advocacy, and service, we encourage the next generation of clinician leaders to blend perseverance with purpose, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and equity in healthcare and beyond.
