For over 40 years the Wilbert C. Jordan Research Forum (WCJRF) has served as one of the hallmark events hosted by the SNMA at our Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC). The WCJRF serves as a venue for SNMA members to display their scientific competence and to reward them for their academic and research accomplishments. As one of the largest research forums for medical students underrepresented in medicine, selection to participate in the WCJRF is a prestigious honor. SNMA student members at all levels across the country apply for a select number of presentation spots.

In 1999, the SNMA House of Delegates voted to name the Research Forum after Dr. Wilbert C. Jordan in honor of his commitment to the SNMA and his significant personal and financial support of the Forum. Dr. Jordan was a nationally and internationally recognized expert on HIV and AIDS, leaving a more than 30-year legacy of advocating for people affected by the HIV epidemic. Dr. Jordan was a powerful advocate for the marginalized, the voiceless, the underserved, and for the development of future healthcare professionals.

On behalf of the Diversity Research Committee and SNMA, we want to thank Dr. Jordan for his remarkable contributions to the SNMA throughout the years.
