Region X events & conferences
RMEC provides the unique opportunity for premedical students, medical students, and medical professionals from Region X to come together for a weekend full of networking and professional growth. Though this is a regional conference, we encourage MAPS members, SNMA members, and medical professionals outside of the region to attend. The conference will be filled with presentations and activities that relate to the experience of minorities in medicine, both as professionals and patients. We hope to provide an event that will encourage your continued journey in medicine and provide you with a community of like-minded individuals to continue to grow and develop within. We look forward to seeing you all!

The Minority Pre-Medical & Pre-Dental Symposium is an annual conference hosted by Louisville's chapters of Student National Medical Association and Student National Dental Association. It allows us to interact with pre-health students in colleges and universities in the region. This conference stems from the idea that we want to give participants the best advice on what steps they need to take in order to best prepare for a health professional school, thus increasing the number of minorities in medicine and dentistry overall.
The symposium is created, organized and put on entirely by medical and dental students at the University of Louisville for one particular reason, to give participants honest and personal views of medicine and dentistry. We will answer questions regarding competitive GPAs, DAT and MCAT scores, but students will also be able to hear personal stories of life and work balance. Sit in on discussions of current social issues and the role of the physician, study skills, and how to become a more disciplined student. This is only the surface of what you can expect from the Minority Pre-Medical & Pre-Dental Symposium!

This year, the students of the University of Louisville have organized a toy drive for Norton Children's Hospital. The administration at Norton's have provided us with their Amazon wish list of age-specific toys. We are not expected to complete the list, however, we are asking for a minimum of 10 toys per chapter, or at least one toy for each member from your institution who is attending the conference. Toys ordered via Amazon will be directly delivered to Norton's. If you would like to deliver the toy personally or would like to purchase a toy not on the list, you can ship it directly to the Louisville campus address provided below.
