Welcome to Region IIIWelcome to the “Trifecta”, Region III of the Student National Medical Association. My name is Chukwudumebi “Dumebi” Atuegbu, and I am a medical student Texas Tech HSC El Paso, Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. It is my honor to serve as the Region III Director from April 2023- April 2025. Region III extends from the breathtaking Rocky Mountains of Colorado to the beautiful bayou of Louisiana. We are comprised of over 50 combined SNMA chapters and MAPS chapters across seven states including Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. And we are growing every day. Our Region works diligently to support and equip the future osteopathic and allopathic physicians of America. We are and always will be the TRIFECTA. Timely In alignment with SNMA’s mission, we pride ourselves in implementing intentional programming that fosters the personal, academic, and leadership development of current and future underrepresented and disadvantaged medical students. Our Regional Medical Education Conference, Regional Leadership Institute, and educational webinars are designed to equip our member students with the tools they need to achieve excellence in their endeavors. Our Region offers us very unique opportunities to serve our community. Patient populations within the Trifecta often rank the highest in the country for health care disparities. Local chapters across the Trifecta labor tirelessly to combat disparities in our underserved communities and communities of color through education, awareness, and service. Region III is at the forefront of “Diversifying the Face of Medicine”, and we ask that you partner with us and get involved! SNMA is made up of 10 regions around the country. An elected Regional Director oversees each region. Regional Boards are mainly comprised of the following elected regional officers: Regional Director, Associate Regional Director,
Pre-Medical Liaison, Secretary, Treasurer, and Committee Chairs (corresponding to national committees). Each region hosts an annual Regional Conference at which a regional meeting is held. Each region has its own Constitution
and Bylaws, which must be held in accordance with and not in violation of the Constitution and Bylaws of National SNMA. Region III is comprised of chapters from Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arkansas, Mississippi,
and Louisiana. |
