Welcome to Region III
Welcome to Region III, also known as the “Trifecta”. My name is Stephanie Nwagwu from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and it is an honor to serve as the Region III Director for the 2019-2021 term.
Region III spans from the majestic Rocky Mountains of Colorado all the way to the bountiful bayou of Louisiana. We comprise of 28 SNMA chapters and 32 MAPS chapters across 7 states including Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Our Region serves to support and equip the future osteopathic and allopathic physicians of America. In alignment with SNMA’s mission, we pride ourselves in putting on programming that fosters the development of current and future medical students. Our Regional Medical Education Conference, Regional Leadership Institute, and various educational webinars equip students to be clinically/academically excellent.
Our Region is very unique and has distinctive health care needs. Patient populations within our region often rank the highest in the country for health care disparities. It is our mission as SNMA to serve our region diligently to combat disparities in underserved communities and communities of color. Our local chapters are filled with socially conscious and culturally competent students who work hard to serve our special patient populations.
Region III is at the forefront of “Diversifying the Face of Medicine”, and we ask that you join us and get involved. Follow us on social media. Donate to our Region to support our programming. Join us at our local and regional events. Contact us with your questions, comments, or suggestions. We’d love to have you!
Yours in SNMA,
